Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately, children escaping their car seats is an issue that sometimes occurs with children of a certain age, across all brands of car seats. We can offer you some general advice and guidelines to try and help resolve this issue, as we understand your concerns for safety. Road Safety campaign and the UK Child Car Seat Organisation and this offers handy hints and tips for methods to discourage your child from trying to get out of the car seat harness. In the United Kingdom and Europe, legislation dictates that car seats are manufactured to have a "one click release" harness so that the child can be released as quickly and safely as possible in the event of an accident. As a result of this, we are very limited in what components can be used in the buckle mechanism and the level of pressure needed to undo the button. Maxi Cosi manufacture their seats to be at the maximum pressure required in compliance with the guidelines and therefore if a child has learnt how to undo the buckle, there is very little we can do. We would never recommend covering the buckle in any circumstance. We do have some tips that can help: - Don't strap your little one in with a winter jacket or too many layers - Tighten the straps well, there should be a maximum of 1 cm between the straps and your little one - Make sure that the straps run straight over the shoulders - Don't forget to tighten the lap belts as well, this is often forgotten If you feel that your car seat may have an issue with the buckle, you may email uk-consumercare@maxi-cosi.com and we will be delighted to look into this further for you.

Do double-check the incline of your vehicle seat as this can result in the child being pushed into a more upright position, even when the seat is reclined fully.
